Five Fascinating Different Gemstones
By cleanjewelry
We live in liberated times. No longer are we chained to the idea of just having
to get a boring diamond or a "perfect" gemstone. We can take or leave an emerald
with that typical prescribed shade of green; especially if someone like a
different shade of green. Now in these self-determining years we are free to
find the stones that appeal to us.
The gems that have character, mystery,
and flaws. In the 50's people may have motioned along as our neighborhood
jewellery maker revealed to us what were failings in stones and four C's, etc..
Thankfully , there has been a steady mind change that has lay the force in the
arms of we the people and placed the beauty back in the mind of the beholder.
Here are just a few of the more interesting gems and jewels that just don't fit
the predetermined mindset:
Oregon Sunstone
If there is a jeweler we
would entrust it just might be Louis Tiffany. One of the first to assess this
stunning stone during the latter 1800's, Louis was fond of Oregon Sunstone such
a lot that Tiffanny's started the 1st mining effort in the remote Oregon area
where it's located. Also known as the "Plush Diamond" because Louis believed its
acute sparkle was like a diamond; this Oregon Sunstone has that rarified natural
color that goes from fizz to blushing ambers to verde. (Please note : Oregon
Sunstone isn't to be misidentified with Indian Sunstone which is gemologically
awfully
not the same.) Here are some beautiful examples of Oregon
susnstone.
Chalcedony
Adored by the traditional people of Rome,
this is basically an all-encompassing class of gemstone which has encompasses
the reddish carnelian (among others). Nowadays, as you hear chalcedony
(pronunciation differs :KAL-SI-DOE'-NEE, CHAL-SID'-NEE, etc.) it customarily
makes reference to the milklike, light-blue forms. Even though its mysteriously
misty features makes Chalcedony such a mesmerizing beautiful rock to current
eyes, it's just that quality that would have a differing opinion with ancient
perfectionists. Luckily nowadays, that clouded, sky-like and angelic
attractiveness that is Chalcedony can be appreciated by
everyone.
Baroque pearls
As man-made pearls have
become the norm and the ideal looking pearl could be as simply real or fake, the
baroque, or natural and faulty, pearl has become very popular. Because the fun
of jewellery is having the ability to adorn it, the baroque pearl's irregular
shape lends itself to casual wear. The Baroque Pearls also lends itself to the
jewelry artist's creativity, with some designers choosing to set the pearls in
forms reflecting the organic shape of the
piece.
Moldavite
Here is a very far out one. That
is meant literally . This green-like gemstone is excavated from an area of Czech
Republic attacked by a meteorite and is believed to have alien origins. Many
even think that it wasn't a meteor but ET's that delivered the stone to our
planet. Without reference to your belief of its origins, it is a beautiful shade
of mossy green and has a wonderful natural crystal outline. Well, it is always
cool to have something to hold in your hand that just may have come from some
distant star.
Sapphires and Rubies
Lab grown
gemstones are not what you may first think. Unlike synthetics or imitation
stones, these are the particular gemstones-- just not mined out of the earth.
Interestingly , it was the fall of communism that declassified the process for
making these gems. They have the same color, the same toughness, the same
optical properties of the real gem. That's because chemically and physically
they're the genuine gem. The telltale difference is they are maybe too perfect
and too inexpensive. Those lovely imperfections that are beloved in natural
stones just are not there. So their issue isn't having flaws.
As for not
being mined from the earth, that makes them prettier in some people's eyes since
that avoids the ethical worries that plague their mined cousins.
Even
though people are sometimes quick to pick out the stones that they have seen
endlessly, there are a growing number of people who'd rather have a gem that
just appears amazing to them.
